Chadwick Boseman Casted to Play African Samurai in Film, ‘Yasuke’

Chadwick Boseman is adding another historical black figure to his acting resume.

He has played Thurgood Marshall, Jackie Robinson and James Brown.

You can now add Yasuke, a slave who was brought to Japan during the 16th century.

Yasuke was the first African Samurai to swing a sword.

One of the co-creators of the Netflix series, Narcos, will write the script.

Chadwick Boseman said, the legend of Yasuke is one of history’s best kept secrets, the only person of non-Asian origin to become a samurai. That’s not just an action movie, that’s a cultural event, an exchange and I am excited to be a part of it.
