Today show host Hoda Kotb got emotional on Friday morning after interviewing New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees about his family’s $5 million donation to coronavirus relief in Louisiana.
Kotb worked in New Orleans for 6 years in the 1990s. COVID-19 is having a devastating surge in the city.
At the end of her conversation with Brees, Kotb started crying. The moment was not lost on viewers. Savannah Guthrie remotely came back on screen to comfort her colleague and went into the next segment.
